Multi-Disciplinary Team Coordination
Heartford House exists to bring together a multi-disciplinary approach to child welfare. Our multi-disciplinary team (MDT) includes CAC staff, Law Enforcement, Department of Child Services, Prosecutor’s Office, medical, and mental health.
Each child seen at Heartford House has an MDT assigned to work together and investigate the allegations. This team of specially trained professionals will watch the interview from a separate observation room through closed-circuit cameras. The observers may consist of a representative from the following disciplines: Indiana Department of Child Services, local Law Enforcement, and local Prosecutor’s Office. After the interview, this team will work together to discuss actions and services that are most beneficial for the child, you, and your family moving forward.
Working together means Heartford House Child Advocacy Center will coordinate with each member of our teams and communicate with them regularly. In all eight counties that we serve, we host MDT meetings several times a year. Those meetings consist of discussions for each of the cases within that county that come to Heartford House. We also discuss which actions or follow up services should be provided to families from our office.
To keep up with best practices, Heartford House provides ongoing education practices; such as webinars, online articles, peer reviews, and training to our multi-disciplinary team. This allows us to improve the investigative approach of our team and provide the best support to the child and families we service.
